Choosing Truth Over Fear

Looking back on our past can sometimes make us miserable. Our minds have a way of waving red flags over the most challenging moments, replaying the hurt and pain until it feels like our entire story is made up of suffering. When that happens, it’s easy to believe that our past was all painful and had no purpose.

But that isn’t true. When we allow ourselves to look again, we can begin to see everything God has done to carry us through the hard seasons, and we can remember the good moments just as clearly. Our brains may naturally raise red flags, but we can train them to raise green ones too. We can build our faith by remembering what God has already done and trusting what He is still able to do.

As we begin to see the good alongside the hard, we’re reminded that God has always been present. He was there in the struggle, and He is still here now. It may feel easy to trust Him with the small prayers, but when it comes to the essential things, the life-changing decisions, doubt can creep in. You may find yourself wondering whether He really sees you, whether He knows your name, or whether your struggles are too small or too many for Him to care.

Sometimes those doubts turn inward. We begin to believe we’re not good enough or worthy of His love. We convince ourselves that we can’t change and that this is just who we are. We stress all the steps it takes to get where we want to be, the effort it would take to feel better or live differently, and we tell ourselves it’s impossible.

I understand that feeling. I once believed those same thoughts. I told myself this was just who I was and that I needed to learn to live with it. But I learned something life-changing. That story wasn’t true.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, “I have a plan for you, and it is a plan for good. A plan to prosper you and not harm you. A plan to bring you hope and a future.” That truth leads to a powerful question we all have to answer for ourselves. Will you believe every fearful thought your mind offers, or will you choose to believe the truth spoken by your Creator?

God says there is a better way. He promises hope, purpose, and a future filled with meaning. The world may tell you that you’re not capable of change, but God says otherwise. You can change the way you think. You can change the way you feel. You can change your life.

Don’t stop trusting God just because you’ve struggled or stumbled. He has already equipped you with everything you need to walk out your purpose. He created your mind with the ability to grow, heal, and be renewed. You are capable of thinking differently and believing in yourself again.

God sees the roadblocks in front of you, and none of them surprises Him. He knows your thoughts and understands your heart. He has already brought you through so much, and He is not finished now. As long as you are here, your story is still unfolding.

God can do far more than you could ever imagine or dream.

Be still, believe, and know.

Let Jeremiah 29:11 be your truth today. Allow it to reshape how you see yourself and trust God when He says He has a plan for you.

With love and encouragement,

Robin
