Stop Guessing and Start Seeking

Happy Monday, sister friend.

I have to admit, when I’m putting something together or making a meal, I rarely look at the instructions or recipe. Most of the time, everything turns out great… at least I think so anyway. But every now and then, I find myself standing in the middle of a room with pieces scattered all around me, staring at something that just won’t come together, the last piece of the puzzle refusing to fit, or a table leg missing a screw. I think, why didn’t I look at the instructions first?

What felt simple suddenly turns frustrating, not because it was complicated, but because I skipped the guidance that was there all along.

Have you ever found yourself there?

I was listening to Rick Warren talk about our purpose in life, and something he said stayed with me: to understand the purpose of something, you either ask the creator what it’s for or you read the instruction manual. And it made me pause, because how often do we try to figure out our lives without doing either? We search, we strive, we overthink, and we look everywhere for answers, hoping something in this world will finally make things clear. Instead of clarity, it often leaves us with more confusion, more overwhelm, and a quiet sense of doubt that settles deeper into our hearts.

God never intended for you to figure this life out on your own. He invites you to come to Him; to ask, to seek, and to depend on His guidance in a way that feels real and necessary. So maybe the question isn’t, “Why can’t I figure this out?” Maybe it’s, “Have I gone to the One who created me?” What if today you came to your Father and asked, “What is my purpose?” Then, instead of striving for a quick answer, you sit with Him long enough to notice what He’s already placed within you, the desires in your heart, the ways you feel drawn to help others, the quiet nudges that point you toward something more.

And in the middle of that seeking, you open His Word, the instruction manual He’s already given you. Scripture tells us in Romans 12:2 not to conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind so you can recognize His good, pleasing, and perfect will. And in Proverbs 19:21, we’re reminded that while we may hold many plans in our hearts, it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

This world has a way of filling your mind with noise: questions, comparisons, and uncertainty that make you second-guess your direction and your worth. But here is the steady truth you can hold onto today: no one can alter the path God has already set before you. When you seek Him, when you listen, and when you stay rooted in His Word, He will guide you, step by step, into the purpose He created you for. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to force clarity. You have to stop guessing… and start seeking.

With love and encouragement,

Robin
